Arsenal## Arsenal are looking to be active in the transfer window as they target Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr

Arsenal have been handed a potential boost in their hopes of signing Vinicius Jr this summer, with Real Madrid closing in on the signing of Yan Diomande.

The Gunners are exploring a move for Vinicius Jr as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the defence of the Premier League title. It is reported that Real Madrid have put a £137m price tag on the player.

Their stance could, though, soften with Real Madrid reportedly closing in on the signing of Yan Diomande. TalkSPORT report that a deal to see the RB Leipzig man join the Spanish giants is 'done' with an agreement reached between the two clubs.

Personal terms between Diomande and Madrid are already said to be in place. Should a move go through as reported, then it could mean that Real Madrid are more open to letting Vinicius Jr leave this summer.

The 26-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract at the Bernabeu, with talks over a new deal appearing to stall. It means that unless an agreement with the player can be reached, then the Spanish club will risk losing him for nothing this time next year.

Vinicius scored 22 goals last season as Real Madrid finished runners-up to rivals Barcelona in La Liga. He represented Brazil in the World Cup, with the nation falling to defeat against Norway at the last-16 stage.

Arsenal seem to have turned their interest to the Brazilian after being one of many clubs linked with Diomande. The Ivory Coast international was said to have preferred a move to Paris Saint-Germain before Real Madrid's interest emerged in the last few days.

The fee that has been agreed between RB Leipzig and Real Madrid for Diomande has not been reported, but it was reported that they had an earlier £85.4 million bid rejected by the German club. It was added that the asking price was around £94 million.

If Madrid have got near that, then they could welcome some big money coming in for Vinicius. The signing of Diomande also increases competition in attacking areas.

Arsenal have been disappointed so far in the transfer window. They missed out on a deal for young Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga, who joined Manchester City.

They have also seen key target Morgan Rogers complete a £117 million move to Chelsea.

Thousands of Arsenal fans upgraded their matchday last season. This is how they did it.
