Arsenal remain interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola but are unwilling to meet the French champions’ asking price, according to L’Equipe.
The French outlet reports that PSG value the France international at €120 million, a figure Arsenal currently have no intention of matching.
Instead, the Gunners are said to value the 23-year-old at around €90 million, leaving a significant gap between the two clubs’ respective valuations.
The difference means a deal appears difficult at this stage despite Arsenal’s long-standing admiration for the winger.
Barcola has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting wide forwards after another impressive campaign with PSG.
His pace, direct running and ability to create and score goals have made him one of the standout performers in Ligue 1 and attracted interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Arsenal are among those to have closely monitored his progress as Mikel Arteta continues his search for additional quality in the final third.
Liverpool and Bayern Munich have also been credited with interest in the Frenchman, highlighting the level of competition for his signature should he become available.
According to L’Equipe, Barcola has also postponed discussions over a new contract with PSG, adding further uncertainty to his long-term future.
Even so, the European champions remain in a strong negotiating position and are under no pressure to sanction a sale.
The report suggests Arsenal’s reluctance to meet PSG’s valuation reflects the club’s disciplined approach in the transfer market.
The Gunners are prepared to invest heavily in players they believe can improve Arteta’s squad, but they are also determined to avoid paying well above their own assessment of a player’s market value.
That stance has been evident throughout the current transfer window as Arsenal continue to weigh ambitious targets against financial value.
Arteta is still expected to strengthen his attacking options before the market closes after the arrivals of Christos Tzolis and Illan Meslier.
A versatile winger capable of operating across the front line remains one of the profiles Arsenal have explored, with Barcola fitting many of the qualities the club are looking for.
For now, however, the numbers do not appear to add up.
Unless PSG lower their demands or Arsenal significantly increase their valuation, there is little prospect of the two clubs finding common ground over a deal for one of France’s brightest attacking talents.
