Arsenal## Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal this summer
16:43, 26 Jul 2026
Arsenal are reportedly expected to hold further talks with Newcastle United over a deal to sign Bruno Guimaraes. The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazil international, whose future at St James’ Park looks increasingly uncertain.
Guimaraes remains under contract at Newcastle until the summer of 2028, and there has become a growing expectation that Arsenal could submit an official offer to try and sign the 28-year-old midfielder.
Arsenal have been tipped to strengthen their midfield options ahead of their Premier League title defence, and now there has been a fresh update on Guimaraes’ future at Newcastle.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that Arsenal are expected to make an offer worth more than £70million to try and sign Guimaraes in the near future.
The report claims that the Gunners will hold further talks with Newcastle over a potential deal for the Brazilian in the next few days, with Arsenal already said to have agreed personal terms with the player.
It has also been claimed that the decision around whether or not Guimaraes becomes an Arsenal player will depend on whether or not Newcastle will sanction an exit, as well as what price tag they would put on the player.
The update comes after reports emerged on social media claiming that Arsenal had submitted a bid of more than £80mto try and secure Guimaraes’ signature.
However, football.london's sister title ChronicleLive have reported that no bid was made by Arsenal and it has also been stated that the Gunners would not want to go as high as an £80m offer to prise Guimaraes away from Tyneside.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe recently addressed the speculation that has been surrounding Guimaraes’ future at the club, amid rumours that the midfielder has expressed a desire to leave St James’ Park this summer.
"I have spoken to him normally as I would do,” Howe told ChronicleLive.
"Bruno is a fantastic person and we had some really good conversations before and during the World Cup and after the World Cup.

"What we speak about has to remain private. He is a great player and a great person."
Howe then added: "Look I don't know what is going to happen with Bruno's future, that is for other people to speculate about.
"But also conversations that I'm not part of."
