Matteo Ruggeri has impressed with Atletico Madrid since joining in 2025 and this has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
The left-back arrived at Los Rojiblancos from Atalanta for only €17 million. The deal has proved a success, with the Italian playing 41 times in all compettions.
He also provided three assists in Europe, starting both of Atleti’s games against Arsenal in the semi-finals.
The defender’s stock has clearly risen since departing Serie A, with both Tottenham and Liverpool in the race for him.
Attention growing

But Liverpool have been monitoring Ruggeri’s progress ‘for a couple of years’. They made an enquiry for him after the 2024 Europa League final, which Atalanta won after beating Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool remain interested, along Tottenham say the Italian media outlet. Both Premier League sides have considered him in the past and could make a move this summer.
