The Sunderland youngster has caught the eye in pre-season friendlies against York City and Liverpool.
Sunderland youngster Timur Tutierov has expressed his determination to continue building on the momentum of what has been a promising start to pre-season for the Ukraine Under-21 international.
After impressing in the Academy of Light ranks, the 21-year-old earned his first taste of first-team football during a loan spell at Exeter City during the second half of last season and he impressed with three goals and one assist in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Grecians. Tutierov returned to Sunderland at the end of the campaign and his progress was recognised when he recently signed a new contract that will commit him to the Black Cats until the summer of 2028.

The versatile forward has spent the early weeks of pre-season training alongside Regis Le Bris’ first-team squad and he made an impact during last week’s win at League Two newcomers York City. Tutierov’s performances in training and in the victory over the Minstermen earned him a place in the Black Cats squad for a three-game tour on the United States - and he caught the eye once again as Le Bris’ men fell to a 4-2 defeat against Premier League rivals Liverpool on Saturday night.
A wonder strike from Enzo Le Fee helped Sunderland get back level-terms after youngster Kieran Morrison had fired the Reds in front. Tutierov then made it two goals in as many games to put the Black Cats in front for the first time in the game - but they were beaten as Dominik Szoboszlai, Federico Chiesa and Lewis Koumas all found the net for Liverpool.
However, the loss could not take the shine off what has been a promising spell of progress for Tutierov - and he set his sights on further progress over the coming weeks.
Speaking after the defeat, the young forward told the club website: “I am so proud for myself and so proud for the lads. We had a great opportunity to play against unbelievable players like (Dominik Szoboszlai). It’s a big experience for me and for them as well. I am so happy about that, it can not be better. The season has started good for me and I hope I am going to keep this level and keep these standards.”
