Facebook founder in Liverpool buy-in talks

**A Facebook founder has been approached to join the Liverpool consortium bid.**

Talks are currently taking place between owners Fenway Sports Group and a vehicle fronted by former Queens Park Rangers chairman Amit Bhatia.

The bid, which is backed by steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, are seeking a 30% minority stake for £1.35 billion would see the Anfield club valued at £4.5bn.

Alongside his father-in-law Mittal, Bhatia has sounded out several wealthy indivituals to join the group that hopes to secure a buy-in with the Reds.

Jeff Bezos of Amazon [is among those already approached](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/66671-jeff-bezos-could-join-liverpool-consortium-bid/) while Sky News claim Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin has now been sounded out.

Saverin was one of five people who helped create the social media network and has a net worth of £24.3bn according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The Brazilian, 44, now jointly operates B Capital Group, a US-based venture capital company that backs various AI, healthcare and financial start-ups.

He has previously held an interest in football ownership after being part of a consortium which was unsuccessful in the Chelsea takeover battle in 2022.

However, much like the approach to Bezos, it is unclear whether Saverin will agree to join the Bhttia bid to become Liverpool’s second-largest shareholder.
