Paris Saint-Germain’s long pursuit of one of Europe’s most coveted young forwards has come to an abrupt end, with the French champions confirming they have walked away from the deal entirely.
In a statement given to Sky in Germany, PSG announced they had formally withdrawn their interest in, and bids for, Yan Diomande.

The Ligue 1 side made clear their frustration with the financial side of the negotiations, describing the asking fee and salary demands as disproportionate and distortive, and insisting they would not abandon their principles of rational financial management and squad balance in order to force the move through.
The report read: “Paris Saint-Germain have told Sky in Germany that they have pulled out of the race to sign the winger.”
“In a statement given to Sky in Germany, this is what PSG had to say.”
“PSG has this evening formally withdrawn its interest in, and bids for, Yan Diomande.”
“The asking transfer fee and salary demands were completely disproportionate and distortive, and PSG will not break its principles of rational financial management and squad balance.”

It marks a significant turn in a saga that had rumbled on for weeks.
Diomande, the 19 year old Ivory Coast international, had initially reached an agreement on personal terms with PSG, and for a long stretch the back to back Champions League winners were the clear favourites to sign him.
Their efforts to drive down the transfer fee, however, appear to have backfired.
That valuation is considerable.
Leipzig are understood to want in excess of 100 million euros for a player who announced himself emphatically last season.
After 12 goals and eight assists in his debut Bundesliga campaign, before a bright showing at the 2026 World Cup, the teenager has become one of the most sought after talents in world football, and the German club have felt no need to compromise.
With PSG now out of the picture, Real Madrid appear to have seized their moment.
Los Blancos have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Leipzig, with only minor details left to resolve before the deal becomes official and the winger arrives before the window closes.
He is expected to slot into a fearsome attacking line alongside Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
The development carries a familiar sting for Liverpool supporters.
The Reds had themselves expressed an interest in Diomande, though they were not willing to pay more than around 85 million pounds for a player they saw as a candidate to help replace Mohamed Salah.
With the winger having made clear he preferred a move to Spain or France, and having turned down Premier League interest, Andoni Iraola’s side had already watched this particular avenue close.
For PSG, the decision reflects a growing willingness to hold firm on value even when chasing elite talent.
For Real Madrid, it represents another statement of intent in a busy summer.
The saga is not quite done until pen meets paper, but all signs now point to Diomande completing his remarkable rise to the Bernabeu.
