A third billionaire has been invited to join the consortium led by Amit Bhatia, which is aiming to acquire roughly 30 percent of Liverpool from Fenway Sports Group.
FSG owns the majority of Liverpool, but the multi-club ownership group has expressed interest in selling a minority stake. With the club valued at around $6 billion, a mammoth $1.8 billion investment would be required, which is why a rich consortium is being prepared.
The most high-profile businessman to be consulted is Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, but now another billionaire has been approached. Bhatia may be fronting the proposal, but now Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin has been approached.
It's unclear whether the potential deal is for a long-term 30 percent share or whether FSG will consider selling its majority stake in the future. It's been speculated that FSG could explore a full sale in the future.
An FSG spokesperson revealed last week: "An investment consortium led, managed, and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club."
Here, Liverpool.com takes a look at Bhatia and the other major billionaires linked with a potential acquisition of the club.
Amit Bhatia
Bhatia is a former investment banker who became an entrepreneur, focusing on construction, real estate, and private equity. The 46-year-old, who sits on the advisory board of the Saudi Arabian government's cultural affairs and international relations unit, also has a history in soccer.
Based in London, Bhatia was a director and co-owner of Queen's Park Rangers until he agreed to transfer his ownership stake in the club to the club's majority owner, Ruben Gnanalingam, earlier this month.

He also stepped down from the board, and talks regarding Liverpool began shortly after his shock departure.
While Bhatia's net worth is unknown, he married Vanisha Mittal Bhatia in 2004, during a six-day ceremony in France. She is the daughter of Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, whose estimated net worth exceeds $30 bilion, and their wedding cost a reported $55 million.
Jeff Bezos
Bezos is the founder of Amazon, and with an estimated net worth of $243 billion, is the third-richest man in the world. Ahead of him are Elon Musk, Tesla founder, and Larry Page, who co-founded Google.
The Amazon founder has held discussions with the consortium looking to acquire a stake in Liverpool, which could become the first sports team in his portfolio. Bezos previously explored potential bids for the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Commanders of the NFL.
However, Bezos did not submit a formal bid, though he could proceed with the Liverpool offer if he joins Bhatia's consortium. Bezos has also been seen partying with NBA icon LeBron James, who is an FSG shareholder and Liverpool fan.
Eduardo Saverin
Saverin is a 44-year-old businessman who co-founded Facebook with Mark Zuckerberg and several others in 2004. He now co-runs B Capital Group, which has a heavy investment portfolio in Artificial Intelligence, healthcare, and financial start-ups.
According to Bloomberg, Saverin is worth approximately $32.4 billion, placing him No. 59 on the Forbes rich list.
Eduardo Saverin, co-founder of Facebook Inc., speaks during an interview in Singapore, on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Saverin has also shown interest in soccer ownership before, and was part of a consortium that failed to purchase Chelsea in 2022.
