The message read: “The presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Ambassador Abbass Aliyu, and the vice-presidential candidate, Hon. Chinazam Ike, heartily congratulate Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her election as President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
“We also congratulate the newly elected National Executive Committee and the entire membership of the Association on the successful conduct of the election.
“Your emergence is a testament to your professional excellence, distinguished service to the legal profession, and the confidence that members of the Bar have reposed in your leadership.
“We have no doubt that your tenure will be marked by courage, integrity, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals upon which the Nigerian Bar Association was founded.”
They said the NBA has historically remained one of Nigeria’s most respected democratic institutions and a steadfast defender of constitutional democracy, judicial independence, human rights, and the rule of law.
According to the message: “At a time when our nation yearns for stronger institutions, accountable leadership, and a justice system that commands the confidence of all citizens, the role of the Bar has never been more vital.
“As a youthful presidential ticket committed to building a Nigeria where justice is not a privilege but a right, where institutions are stronger than individuals, and where every citizen enjoys equal protection under the law, we identify with every effort aimed at deepening constitutional governance, promoting judicial reforms, improving access to justice, and defending the sanctity of democratic principles.
“We believe that no nation can attain sustainable peace, economic prosperity, or national unity without a legal system that is independent, efficient, and accessible.
“We therefore look forward to a productive era in which the Nigerian Bar Association continues to champion reforms that strengthen public confidence in the administration of justice, uphold the Constitution, and safeguard the rights of all Nigerians.
“We also celebrate this historic moment as another significant milestone for women in leadership. Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya’s election serves as an inspiration to millions of young Nigerians, especially young women, demonstrating that competence, dedication, and excellence remain the true foundations of leadership.
“We pray that Almighty God grants you abundant wisdom, sound health, courage, and divine guidance as you lead the legal profession through this important chapter.
“May your tenure be remembered for strengthening the Bar, advancing justice, fostering unity among members, and making enduring contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development.”
The ADP congratulated Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, the newly elected officers, and every member of the NBA, and wished them a peaceful, successful, and impactful tenure in the service of the legal profession and the nation.
