Manchester City could inflate their transfer budget for the summer with the sale of Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old winger has failed to break the mould since arriving from Troyes in 2024, as a result of stiff competition for his place.
And with Antoine Semenyo, Jeremy Doku, Rayan Cherki, Omar Marmoush and now, Jeremy Monga, all at the Etihad Stadium, Savinho's chances of regular game time seem to be dwindling by the day.
While AC Milan have been credited with holding an interest in the Brazilian as a replacement for an outgoing Rafael Leao, it's Spurs who are the frontrunners to secure Savinho ahead of the new season.
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur's negotiations for Savinho are 'well advanced,' with Robert De Zerbi said to admire his pace and direct style of play.
It comes as the Lilywhites have taken a no-nonsense approach to their business in the current window, overhauling their first team completely following last season's 17th-place Premier League finish.
Not only have Spurs welcomed the likes of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka as free agents, but they have also spent massively on paid transfers.
The Lilywhites splashed out £52million on Brighton's Jan Paul van Hecke, £100m on Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali, and a further £85m on a relegation-stricken West Ham's Mateus Fernandes.
While no official offer has been submitted as yet, City are expected to demand around £65m for Savinho, who remains under contract until 2031. A sale could, however, hinge on City first securing cover on their flank beforehand.
Ibrahim Mbaye and Yan Diomande have been identified as potential targets for the Sky Blues, though nothing definitive has been established as yet - amid considerable competition for both players.
And the sale of Savinho could be too good of an opportunity for City to pass up ahead of the transfer window slamming shut in a little over a month.
Given he has no guaranteed first-team football under Enzo Maresca, the Sky Blues could opt to generate vital funds to strengthen other areas.
A £116m deal with Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson has eaten into a large chunk of City's transfer kitty, and player sales may be necessary before the club can welcome new arrivals - especially as they await the outcome of their investigation over 115 alleged breaches of financial regulations. City have continuously denied all allegations against them.
With Maresca expected to hit the ground running in 2026/27 as a successor to Pep Guardiola, the Italian will likely have a number of players he wishes to personally bring in with him.
Whether the board will give him the creative control of such decisions remains to be seen, but vital funds would go a long way in the 46-year-old landing any respective moves.
