Arsenal## Arsenal hold an interest in Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, whose salary demands have reportedly emerged
13:09, 27 Jul 2026
Vincius Jr is reportedly demanding a salary that would make him Arsenal’s highest earner as speculation continues to surround his future at Real Madrid. The Brazil international has entered the final year of his contract, prompting interest from the Gunners.
Arsenal are exploring a marquee move for Vincius, who is considered one of the best attacking players in world football. Primarily operating on the left flank, a move for the 26-year-old would be a coup for Mikel Arteta’s side and help the Premier League champions build on last season’s success.
Despite Vinicius having less than a year left on his current contract, Real Madrid are determined to keep the winger and have set a reported £137million (€160m) asking price. However, the Spanish giants are yet to reach an agreement with the Brazilian over a new deal as negotiations are claimed to have stalled over the player’s wage demands.
While Arsenal prepare to step up their interest in the winger, it has been reported by AS that both Vincius’ and Real Madrid’s priority is for him to remain at the club. It is added that the winger is asking for a new deal worth £17.1million (€20million) per season.

In 2022, Vinicius signed a five-year deal, which began with him earning around £8.5m (€10m) but his wages have continued to rise and he would earn approximately £15.3m (€18 million) next season.
It is reported that Vinicius is set to hold talks with Real Madrid regarding a new contract upon returning from his post-World Cup break. AS claims that the forward has “felt undervalued” by Los Blancos but that new manager Jose Mourinho is keen to keep him at the club.
Vincius’ wage demands would place him at the top of Arsenal’s wage structure, ahead of Bukayo Saka. The Arsenal academy graduate earns £300,000 per week, making his annual salary £15.6m compared to Vincius’ desired £17.1m figure.
Meanwhile, Real have continued to pursue attacking targets in the transfer window. RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Spanish club ahead of a move worth more than £100m.
Vinicius scored 22 goals and provided 14 assists in 53 games last season. He signed from Flamengo in 2018 and has twice won the Champions League and clinched three La Liga titles, alongside several other major honours, during his time at the club.
