Micky van de Ven believes Tottenham possess "new ambition" following a summer spending spree, with the rumored Liverpool target insisting the outlook is promising in north London.
After Spurs narrowly escaped relegation on the final day of the 2025-26 Premier League season, majority owners the Lewis family pledged to go "all in" to finance the necessary rebuild, with six new signings subsequently arriving at the club, with around £315M (£237m) spent so far/
Tottenham have shattered their transfer record on two occasions, firstly with an $113M (£85m) move for midfielder Mateus Fernandes, before a $133M (£100m) deal brought Sandro Tonali from Newcastle. Van de Ven acknowledged that European football is the target for a club that has finished 17th in consecutive seasons, with Andy Robertson also joining the club.
Liverpool have been linked with the Dutch defender in various reports, though it is understood the Reds have never pursued any genuine interest in signing him.
"It's really good that you can see the club has made some changes," Van de Ven told British media during Spurs' pre-season tour of Australia, reports the Liverpool Echo.
"They have brought a really good new manager, in my opinion, and some really good new signings. You can see the club has new ambition. It's something that's really important for players that have been there for a long time.
"Spurs is a team that needs to play Europe every year, so obviously the European spots are something we are going to aim for. The most important thing is we play our football and that we are a difficult team to play against."
The past 12 months have brought significant upheaval at Tottenham, with long-standing chairman Daniel Levy stepping down in September, several months after a Europa League victory that ended a 17-year wait for silverware.

Levy's exit was followed by another period of poor results, which led to Thomas Frank being sacked in February, before caretaker manager Igor Tudor lasted just seven matches in charge.
With the Lewis family now wielding greater influence and chief executive Vinai Venkatesham charged with reviving Spurs' fortunes, De Zerbi was appointed in March.
Van de Ven expressed his confidence in the Italian to restore the attacking football that was absent under Frank.

Van de Ven added: "It's going to be different compared to the former manager we had last season. It's going to be more with the ball, more playing football. I think it's going to be more enjoyable for people to watch playing offensive football."
