Reports have emerged that Albion striker Danny Welbeck is on Chelsea’s radar this summer transfer window.
The 35-year-old is said to be ‘appealing’ to new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso, who seeks experience for his squad.
On July 27th, football Journalist David Ornstein took to X to post about the transfer possibility.
Ornstein wrote: “Chelsea exploring move to sign Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion.
“Terms end 2027 and Brighton (are) aware of interest. Early stage but optimism on all sides (that a) deal can be done.
“Quality and leadership appeals to Xabi Alonso.”
Last season, Danny made 37 league appearances for The Seagulls, scoring 13 goals.
Signing from Watford on a free deal in 2020, Welbeck’s leadership has been pivotal for Brighton.
His initial one-year contract was extended and he’s become a household name at the Amex Stadium.
In total, he’s made 172 club appearances, with 42 goals to his name.
