Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry set to star in a major new drama series about British football this summer.
High-profile footballers increasingly explore opportunities beyond the pitch once their playing careers progress. Star-driven drama series about the industry can attract significant interest from streaming platforms. Collaborations between former rivals often generate additional curiosity among supporters.
Productions that blend real football figures with fictional storylines have grown in popularity. Filming at actual grounds and involving current or former players helps add authenticity. These projects can reach audiences far beyond traditional sports coverage.

Cristiano Ronaldo is to executive produce and star in a major new drama series about British football. The former Manchester United forward is behind the show, titled Day 1s, which centres on a fictional agent played by Homeland star Damian Lewis.
Thierry Henry will also feature in the series. Filming has already begun, with scenes shot at Barnet FC’s ground in north-west London. The project is based on a concept by real-life agent Darren Dein, who represents Henry, and is being made by UR•Marv Studios, the company Ronaldo runs with director Matthew Vaughn.
An insider said: “It’s likely to spark a bidding war between the streamers. The sheer calibre of figures behind it, not to mention the cast, means it’s a prestige project — albeit a surprising one for Ronaldo as he crosses into making dramas.”

The series will tell the story of top agent Stanley Dalton and is described as a drama with comedic elements rather than a sitcom. British rapper Dave and newcomer Carlotta Banat are also involved. Ronaldo, who continues to play for Al-Nassr and captained Portugal at the World Cup, described the venture as “an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures.”
The participation of Thierry Henry adds an Arsenal connection to the production. The involvement of two of the Premier League’s most recognisable former players is expected to boost international interest in the show, particularly in the United States following the recent World Cup.
Further details on release dates and the full cast are expected as filming continues. For now the project marks an unusual but high-profile crossover between elite football and television drama.
