Arsenal are exploring a move for Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, according to the latest Arsenal transfer news. The Brazilian’s contract at the Bernabeu runs out in the summer of 2027, with no renewal in sight.
Arsenal weigh up a move for Vinicius Junior
Arsenal have picked out Vinicius Junior as a serious option this summer. As reported by The Athletic, the move is still at an early stage, with no club-to-club talks held so far. Still, the plan already has approval at every level inside the Emirates. Mikel Arteta wants fresh pace on the wings after Arsenal’s first Premier League title in over twenty years.
He scored 22 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid last season. He was also directly involved in Brazil’s best football at this summer’s World Cup. Real Madrid do not want to lose him for free. He is also due a large loyalty bonus next season, and that detail could work in Arsenal’s favour if talks over a new deal keep stalling. Arsenal have the financial muscle to back the interest. A deal of this size would still be a major statement of intent for a club that has just become champion.

Vinicius Junior had a strong World Cup this summer. He played every match for Brazil and scored four goals before their exit to Norway in the round of 16. He also scored 21 goals for Real Madrid last season, though the club finished second in La Liga once more. As reported by Athlon Sports, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has addressed the situation directly. “Vini is one of the best players in the world,” he said, adding that the forward was decisive in winning the last two European Cups and “wants to stay at Madrid.”
Yet talks over a new deal have stalled badly, and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is said to be pushing to keep his best players together regardless. Vinicius joined Real Madrid from Flamengo back in 2018. Since then he has made over 300 appearances, contributing more than 100 goals and 100 assists combined. One more trophyless season may have opened the door for a fresh start elsewhere.
What this could mean for Arsenal
A deal this big would test even Arsenal’s growing spending power. Vinicius Junior is said to be worth over £150 million, a fee that would break the club’s transfer record with ease. Arsenal have already reshaped their attack this summer, signing Christos Tzolis while letting Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard leave. Adding Vinicius Junior would push that rebuild further, giving Arteta a specialist left winger he currently lacks.
From a tactical view, his pace would change how Arsenal attack. He often cuts inside from the left, which would stretch tired defences. That space could help both Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz thrive through the middle. Arsenal’s build-up play would also gain a new outlet down the flank, easing pressure on their midfield in tight games.
For now, nothing is close to being finalised, and Real Madrid still hope to tie their star man down. But with his contract now inside its final year, the next real signal will come from Madrid, whether that is a fresh offer on the table or the first signs of talks breaking down for good.
