With Liverpool supporters hoping for some significant transfer business in the coming weeks, journalist Alex Crook has provided a positive new update.
The Reds’ Andoni Iraola era is now in full swing, and Milos Kerkez has made it clear that he is enjoying life under his new head coach, not least the style of play that he has brought in:
“I think the heavy Liverpool team that Liverpool used to be – press, front foot, everyone in front,” the left-back said. “Like I said, front-foot, full pressing.
“Anfield, obviously, is going to push us a lot, give us also that energy. When they see us pushing a lot, they’re going to give us big support home and away. So the big difference is going to be, I think, the pressure, the pressing, the aggressiveness in our game this year.”
When it comes to transfers, Liverpool fans are craving additions, and speaking on YouTube [via *Anfield Sector* on X], talkSPORT’s Crook dropped an encouraging five-word update on the upcoming activity, saying he is “expecting a busy few weeks” at Anfield.
How many signings do Liverpool need this summer?
At this point, Victor Munoz remains Liverpool’s only summer signing to date – Jeremy Jacquet’s move from Rennes was agreed earlier this year – but expect plenty more before next season starts.
There are a host of positions that need to be targeted by the Reds, with at least one new winger required alongside Munoz, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola a leading target, as things stand.
Another centre-back feels key, especially after Joe Gomez limped out of Liverpool’s 4-2 pre-season win over Sunderland over the weekend, with an experienced head arguably needed to complement Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni.
Right-back could also do with some focus, considering Conor Bradley is still injured, and Jeremie Frimpong doesn’t feel like the solution there, and adding a central midfielder wouldn’t go amiss to add fresh legs, too.
So essentially, Liverpool must aim to sign another four or five players between now and the end of the summer transfer window, in order to give Iraola the best possible chance of having success from the off.
