RB Leipzig have provided the clearest indication yet of Yan Diomande’s future amid interest from Real Madrid, PSG and Liverpool
Liverpool’s interest in Yan Diomande has been one of the biggest transfer stories involving the club this summer.
The RB Leipzig winger emerged as a reported target after an outstanding debut season in the Bundesliga and an impressive FIFA World Cup campaign with Ivory Coast, attracting attention from several of Europe’s leading clubs.

The Reds have since faced increasing competition for the 19-year-old, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also entering the race.
More recent reports indicate Liverpool have fallen behind, with Diomande now understood to have accepted a move to Real Madrid as negotiations between the Spanish club and RB Leipzig continue.
RB Leipzig have offered the clearest indication yet that Diomande’s summer break has come to an end.
The Bundesliga club shared photos and videos on Monday showing the Ivory Coast international back at the club after his participation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The content showed Diomande returning to Leipzig’s training base to begin preparations for the new season alongside his teammates following an extended post-tournament break.
Diomande’s return comes at a time when his future remains the subject of intense speculation.
Liverpool were among the clubs linked with the teenager earlier in the transfer window, while Paris Saint-Germain also pursued the player. However, Real Madrid have since moved into pole position, with multiple reports stating Diomande has chosen the Spanish club ahead of the other interested sides.
Leipzig have not commented publicly on the transfer speculation and, by welcoming Diomande back for pre-season, have continued to treat him as a member of the first-team squad.
Earlier this summer, sporting director Marcel Schafer insisted the Bundesliga club had no intention of selling the winger, although speculation surrounding his future has intensified in recent days.
Diomande enjoyed a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign after joining Leipzig from Leganes, registering 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. His performances earned him the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award before he carried that form onto the international stage with Ivory Coast at the World Cup.
