Mohamed Salah’s future has become one of the summer’s most speculated transfer sagas, with reports swinging wildly between “deal done” and “deal collapsed” almost daily since the Egyptian left Liverpool last month.
Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu was among the first to claim personal terms had been agreed, reporting Salah had softened his wage demands with talks on contract length progressing.

Besiktas moved quickly to shut that down.
Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, was equally blunt on X earlier this month, saying: “I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?”
Yet Besiktas president Serdal Adali muddied the waters by admitting Salah had verbally approved a move before the agent allegedly demanded a 35% commission, which the club called unacceptable.
Adali said:
“Salah met with both our coach Vincenzo Italiano and our Football Director Onder Ozen and accepted our offer,” said Adali.
“His manager also responded positively to our offer at the beginning.:
Fabrizio Romano offered a more measured take, saying Besiktas were “maintaining discretion until reaching a comprehensive agreement” while confirming a genuine offer existed.
Days later, Sabuncuoğlu doubled down, claiming Abbas had softened his commission stance.
Against that backdrop, sporting director Önder Özen is now set to hold a press conference this evening at 18:00, per Turkish reporter Murat Özen:
“Beşiktaş Club’s Sports Director Önder Özen will hold a press conference this evening at 18:00.”
Fellow journalist Sercan Dikme added that Besiktas have given no positive or negative signal during the 24-hour response window they set for Salah, and Özen is expected to “recount what happened during the Salah process”.
