Jordan Henderson joined Brentford on a two-year deal last summer and has less than 12 months remaining on his contract.
The Liverpool legend racked up 32 Premier League appearances last season for the Bees, scoring once and providing three assists.

He was also included in England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad but featured only once after suffering a broken arm that required surgery.
The 36-year-old joined Brentford in July 2025 after spells with Ajax and Al Ettifaq following his Liverpool departure in the summer of 2023. During 12 years at Anfield, he won eight major trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup.
Across his Premier League career with Sunderland, Liverpool and Brentford, Henderson has made 463 appearances, scoring 34 goals and registering 56 assists.
Chelsea are working on a deal to sign the England international. Brentford have given the midfielder permission to leave on a free transfer this summer.
According to talkSPORT, Henderson is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge ahead of the new Premier League season, which kicks off in August. Chelsea are currently leading the race for the experienced midfielder.
Chelsea view the experienced midfielder as an attractive option as they look to add a defensive midfielder to their squad following the exit of Andrey Santos.
The Blues are keen to bring in more experience, with Xabi Alonso previously pushing for the signing of midfielder Granit Xhaka. However, Sunderland are unwilling to sanction a departure for the Switzerland international.
Asked about potential transfers ahead of Chelsea’s pre-season clash with Western Sydney Wanderers, Alonso suggested that further movement could take place this summer.
The Spaniard hinted that new arrivals were possible but also indicated that the squad may need to be reduced before the new season begins.
“We need to know that probably there will still be some movements,” he said. “We need to be flexible and quick to act.
“The main thing is that we have a clear idea, a clear plan that we have built. Probably it will change until the last day of the market being open. We need to have options because you know that we could be unlucky with injuries so we need to prepare for that.
“We can have different circumstances. We need to manage minutes. We have two cups as well, so we need to fight for them as hard as in the Premier League.
“Once we get the right balance in terms of qualities, personalities, maturity moments, hopefully we are looking at that when we start the first Premier League game in August.”
