Mystic Gab predicts Coventry City transfer window success and first goal on opening game at…

Gabby Agbonlahor believes Coventry City are going to do some “good” business in the final month of the summer transfer window.

The former Aston Villa star has spoken about the Sky Blues in his latest set of predictions for the season ahead, which includes Frank Lampard’s men taking the lead against Arsenal in the opening match of the new Premier League season when the top flight Champions take on the Championship winners at the Emirates in less than a month from now.

Coventry fans are getting increasingly nervous about their club’s lack of transfer activity, having only seen two new faces through the door in the form of Eintracht Frankfurt defender Aurele Amenda and Burnley winger Loum Tchaouna. The summer window closes in just over five weeks' time on September 1.

But speaking on talkSPORT’s weekend breakfast show hosted by Shebahn Aherne, ‘Mystic Gab’ insisted: “I think Coventry are going to have a very good transfer window this month, think they’re going to sign some good players.”

And looking ahead to the opening fixture, he said City will give a good account of themselves and that it won’t be a Gunners’ walkover that many might think by looking at the game on paper.

“I think Arsenal will win this game but I think it’s a close win,” he said. “I see a Coventry side full of confidence and wanting to express themselves in the Premier League. They have a top manager that we love on this show, Frank Lampard, someone I got on this show.

“I think they get the opening goal and do well in the game but Arsenal get a hard-earned 2-1 win. So three points for Arsenal in that first game against Coventry. Is that fair or do you think it’ll be five or six nil, do you not think Coventry can put up a fight?”

Aherne replied: “I couldn’t call it, to be honest. You’ve thought about it in more detail than me but I still see it being an Arsenal win.”
