All the latest transfer news and gossip for Brighton and Hove Albion and across the Premier League
Brighton striker Danny Welbeck continues to get down to business despite the transfer links to Chelsea.
The 35-year-old emerged as a surprise candidate to bolster the Blues’ forward line after scoring 13 Premier League goals in 37 matches last season.
In a further unexpected move, there are also reports the club are in negotiations to bring in England midfielder Jordan Henderson from Brentford.
Welbeck has a year on his Brighton contract
Welbeck has a year remaining on his deal and there is optimism a deal can be concluded as Brighton are understood to be willing to let the striker move for the right price.
Interest in Welbeck and Henderson would also mark another significant step in a revised Chelsea transfer policy, as they seek to recruit more established buys under new manager Xabi Alonso.
Welbeck, who scored twice when Brighton won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge last season, signed a new 12-month deal in March which runs until the end of the 2026-27 campaign.

Chelsea singed Joao Pedro from Brighton
Last summer Chelsea signed Brazilian Joao Pedro from Brighton from £60m.
Prior to that, Chelsea have poached Albion for Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez, head coach Graham Potter and a number of backroom staff.
Brighton crank up their pre-season preparations this Saturday as they take on Strasbourg - Chelsea's sister club - in a friendly.
It's unclear at this stage if Welbeck will be involved.
New City deal for Rodri
Elsewhere, Manchester City are hopeful Rodri will sign a new contract but are braced for a bid from Real Madrid and interest from other clubs, according to the Guardian. The World Cup-winning Spain midfielder, 30, has a year remaining on his City contract.
Sky Sports reports Real Madrid will hold further talks with Vinicius Junior’s representatives, hoping to reach an agreement over a new long-term contract. The 26-year-old Brazil forward, whose existing deal expires next summer, has been linked with a move to Arsenal.
Manchester United are in advanced talks to send Joshua Zirkzee, 25, on a season-long loan to Juventus, according to the Sun. The reported deal for the Netherlands forward includes an option to buy for £30million.
