Fabrizio Romano has maintained that he feels the final fee will be lower than €170 million.
However, many reports including from Mario Cortegana of the Athletic and the BBC maintain that the European champions will ask for a mega amount:
“Paris Saint-Germain have put a valuation of at least €170million on forward Bradley Barcola. The 23-year-old’s contract expires in 2028, and he does not wish to extend it.
“Among the factors under consideration in this valuation are the sums paid by Chelsea for Morgan Rogers (£117m) and Manchester City for Elliot Anderson (£116m).
“Also taken into account are Barcola’s youth, his status as a key player in the club’s two Champions League triumphs over the past two seasons and the fact he is a regular for France.”
“The same sources expect competition from Premier League clubs for Barcola, with Liverpool having made him a top target.”
“Arsenal have also shown interest but are prioritising a possible move for Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid. PSG sources also point out that their head coach Luis Enrique only wants committed players; therefore, if the club do not secure the desired fee, Barcola may not feature for them next season”
The weekend’s big domino was Barcola rejecting a new PSG contract, with RMC Sport reporting he ceased extension talks despite the club offering a substantial pay rise. The decision reportedly wasn’t about money but about sporting prospects.
Liverpool will hope to negotiate the fee down should they decide to make a formal move, particularly as Luis Enrique has made it clear he only wants players fully committed to the Parisian project and will not guarantee any member of his squad a regular starting place.
