Chelsea still very keen as BlueCo present concrete plan for player–Director confirms interest

Chelsea

Chelsea owner BlueCo are working on signing FC Nordsjælland’s Caleb Yirenkyi this summer.

Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Denmark that Chelsea have entered the race to sign the 20-year-old.

The media described it as a ‘bombshell’ as it’s not common for the Blues to look at the Danish market.

Bold in Denmark now backs up the Premier League side’s interest and covers the latest.

BlueCo’s long-term plan for Chelsea

Chelsea’s owners also own RC Strasbourg and have presented a concrete plan to the midfielder.

According to Bold, Xabi Alonso’s side are still very keen, but BlueCo plan to sign him for the French club.

The Ghana international would have to move to Stamford Bridge via the Ligue 1 side. The two clubs have done business in recent years and could do so in the future for Caleb Yirenkyi.

FC Nordsjælland sporting director Alexander Riget has indicated the player is likely to leave this summer. The Danish club are waiting for the right offer and value him at €30m.

“Caleb played today [Sunday] because a sale isn’t imminent,” he said.

“He played well in the Superliga last season and has just played in the World Cup, where he performed very well. Many clubs have taken notice. There is, of course, interest in him. So far, we’re not at the point where we’re about to sell him.”

Chelsea could get involved

L’Equipe backs up’s Bold’s claim that RC Strasbourg are intensifying their efforts to sign Caleb Yirenkyi this summer.

FC Nordsjælland have already rejected FC Porto and Coventry City bids and are asking for at least €25m in fixed fee. Bold said €30m, probably with bonuses.

The Ligue 1 side will face ‘fierce competition, and a favourable outcome for the French club would likely involve Chelsea, who share the same owner, BlueCo’.
