The last couple of days became all about Chelsea’s moves for veterans – both Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck are being strongly linked.
But there’s also an ongoing effort to sign more youngsters too, and the bulk of last week was spent talking about Kerim Alajbegovic.
The 18 year old Bayer Leverkusen attacker was a real menace for Bosnia at the World Cup and attracted the attention of a few teams. The Athletic’s Deal Sheet today looks deeper into that deal.

The Blues see the youngster as a “signing for the future” and are “working on an asking price of around €25m to €30m for him.
If the club were indeed to traet him as “for the future,” it’s not quite clear what that would mean. Would they have him in the Development Squad? Would they loan him to Strasbourg? Or to someone else in the Premier Leagiue? Or would he just be in the first team squad but not playing many minutes?
It’s not yet clear, and all of those look like reasonable options with different advantages.

One player the Blues won’t be signing is John Stones – he’s off to Inter Milan according to the latest rumours.
David Ornstein logged on to drop a major transfer bomb earlier in the evening, with the news that Chelsea are leading the chase to sign Jordan Henderson on a free transfer from Brentford.
