Dastan Satpayev was able to start during Chelsea's pre-season friendly meeting with Western Sydney Warriors on Tuesday morning, despite having not officially signed for the club.
The Blues have had an agreement in place with Kairat Almaty to sign the forward on his 18th birthday since last February, thought to be worth around £3.3million plus add-ons. However, as things stand, he is not officially a part of the West London outfit.
That hasn't prevented Xabi Alonso from taking the Kazakhstani on the Blues' pre-season tour of Australia and Asia, however, much to the bamboozlement of some fans.
The 17-year-old, who is set to officially join Chelsea on August 12, was even selected to start for the club's friendly against Western Sydney Warriors at the Accor Stadium on Tuesday morning.

As a result, Satpayev just needed permission from his club, as well as going through a number of formalities including signing various trialist forms and receiving permission from his parents to join Chelsea's 28-man pre-season squad.
It didn't take Satpayev long to make a mark on his unofficial debut for the club, finding the back of the net just six minutes into the encounter.
