Liverpool have held preliminary talks for Bradley Barcola, but formal club-to-club negotiations are yet to begin, GIVEMESPORT understands. That is likely to change soon given Barcola is Liverpool's leading target, but any deal will be price dependent.
PSG's starting point is €170million (£145million), which Liverpool view as inflated and unrealistic. The club's aim will be to strike an agreement for less. PSG's failure to land Real Madrid-bound Yan Diomande provides an added layer of complication, but advanced talks continue for Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche. Despite links with Liverpool, PSG are currently favourites to land the French attacker's signature.
The combination of PSG adding another signing, plus Barcola being unwilling to pen a new contract, could trigger more favourable terms for Barcola for Liverpool.

PSG's valuation is informed by other deals this summer, including Elliot Anderson's £116million move to Manchester City and Morgan Rogers' £117million switch to Chelsea. The French champions also factor in that Barcola is a back-to-back Champions League winner and comes off an impressive World Cup in which he scored three times and got one assist.
Liverpool point to the fact Barcola wants to leave to start more games, something PSG can't guarantee, and take into account the fact the 23-year-old only has two years left on his current deal.
Liverpool also tried for Barcola last summer when he was valued around €85million, and GMS understands the club has no intention of paying double that number now.
Liverpool would also be prepared to wait until either January or even next summer, knowing the price will drop next year for Barcola. The aim is to try and strike an agreement this summer, but not unless the price drops.

It is worth noting Alexander Isak's initial asking price was £150million, and Liverpool got a deal done for £125million in the final hours of last summer's window, and it is often normal for buyer and seller to start with a gulf in valuation.
Barcola joined PSG from Monaco from Lyon in 2023 for a fee in the region of €45million. He has gone on to make 159 appearances, scoring 39 times and winning 12 trophies including the last two Champions League titles and Ligue 1 in each of his three seasons at the club.

Manager Andoni Iraola is looking to add to his forward line, having lost Mohamed Salah at the end of his contract already this summer. It also remains to be seen what the future holds for the likes of Federico Chiesa and Cody Gakpo, both of whome have been linked with a move away from Anfield.
