Full Chelsea player ratings from Australia after the Blues won a thrilling victory over Western Sydney Wanderers in a pre-season friendly to get the Xabi Alonso era underway

Chelsea supporters got to see Xabi Alonso's side in action for the first time on Tuesday - and they were not left disappointed after a 6-4 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers at the Accor Stadium.
Dastan Satpayev got the ball rolling in Sydney with a fantastic hit into the top corner. The 17-year-old attacker was fed by Ryan Kavuma-McQueen and kept his composure before smashing it in at the near post.
However, the Australians levelled it via an Anthony Pantazopoulos header from a corner. And it was soon 2-1 to Wanderers when Aydan Hammond took it past Josh Acheampong before firing past Teddy Sharman-Lowe into the bottom corner.

Chelsea found a route back into the game moments later when Dario Essugo and Reggie Walsh combined with an intelligent exchange of passes before the former guided the ball into the bottom corner.
It was the Australians who took the lead through Dylan Scicluna, who took advantage of some awful defending from the Blues. Substitute Jamie Gittens levelled the game moments later, before Wanderers went ahead yet again through Awan Lual.
Then it was the Joao Pedro show. One, two and then three for the Brazilian, who scored a wonderful 10-minute hat-trick in Sydney to steal the show.

Teddy Sharman-Lowe
The 23-year-old made a tremendous early save to deny Hammond's low strike. Apart from that, not too much to do (bar the goals that weren't his fault). It will be interesting to see if Sharman-Lowe ends up being Chelsea's third-choice in the goalkeeping department. 6
Tayo Subuloye
Subuloye had his moments at right-back. I would've liked to see him bomb forward from right-back a bit more. 6
Tosin Adarabioyo
The defender captained the side in the first half in Sydney. He was part of a shaky centre-back pairing in the first half. Missed a couple of great headed chances. 5
Josh Acheampong
This could be a big season for Acheampong but he was responsible for Wanderers' second goal. The Cobham graduate got completely done by Hammond before he slotted the ball into the bottom corner. 4
Landon Emenalo
Big things are predicted for Emenalo and you can certainly see why. A really bright performance up until he fluffed a clearance in the second half to gift the Australians a goal. 6
Reggie Watson
Watson isn't afraid to get stuck in and make a challenge, despite being only 16 years of age. Impressed from what I saw from the teenage midfielder. 7
Dario Essugo
It's a big pre-season for Essugo and he started it excellently. Fantastic finish from the Portuguese midfielder, who grew into the first half as it went on. Came off at half-time. 8
Dastan Satpayev
Hugely promising debut for the 17-year-old. An accomplished finish and an equally impressive run from Satpayev. Much more to come. 8
Reggie Walsh
Compared to when we saw Walsh from the first time under Enzo Maresca in May 2025, he is unrecognisable. He was used in a sort of hybrid No.10/striker role. Walsh looked bright. 7
Ryan Kavuma-McQueen
Great to see the 17-year-old winger strut his stuff. A fantastic pass to set up Chelsea's opener - putting the ball in behind the defence for Satpayev, who made an excellent run, to run onto and fire away. Huge talent. 8
Liam Delap
Amid the speculation over his future, Delap started the match for the Blues. However, much like last season, the No.9 looked out of place in the team. 5
Omari Kellyman (46')
Great to see him given an opportunity but he was taken off just moments after being introduced. You can only presume it was an injury, which is cruel luck. N/A
Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli (46')
Another huge talent. A quietly impressive second half from Nicoll-Jazuli, who carried the ball really well for Joao Pedro's goal. 6
Robert Sanchez (64')
Didn't have too much to do, the Chelsea goalkeeper. 6
Marco Palestra (64')
Chelsea supporters will be encouraged with what they saw from the Italian. More to come but a promising start. 6
Levi Colwill (64')
A huge pre-season for Colwill, who looked comfortable when coming on just after the hour-mark. 6
Cole Palmer (64')
A huge roar when Palmer's name was read out. Chelsea's No.10 delivered with a great pass towards his partner in crime, Joao Pedro, for Chelsea's fifth goal. 7
Jamie Gittens (64')
This man did make an impact, though, scoring his third goal of pre-season (after two goals in behind-closed-doors friendly back in England). A big season ahead? Let's hope so. 8
Joao Pedro (64')
And it was this man who set Gittens up. It was on a plate, really, with Joao Pedro finding space down the left-hand side in the box and pulling it back to the winger for an easy finish. And of course there was time for a goal from Chelsea's top scorer last season. And then another. What a player. 9
Wesley Fofana (64')
Comfortable evening in the end for the Frenchman, who still has question marks over his Chelsea future. 6
Aaron Anselmino (64')
We don't get to see much of Anselmino - especially in a Chelsea shirt - so that was nice. The Argentine slotted in at left-back for the final 30 minutes (including additional time). 6
Estevao Willian (64')

He is loved in Australia, isn't he? The noise whenever there is a sighting of him is quite remarkable. Estevao gave the ball away sloppily for Wanderers' fourth goal. 5
