Chelsea are underway in their first preseason game of the season, taking on Western Sydney Warriors. But this is just the start of a trip which takes them around Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, and then back to London.

Jack Rosser writes that jet lag has been a “huge consideration” for the Blues as they try to stop new manager. Xabi Alonso’s preparations for the new season getting disrupted.

“Passengers were immediately placed on Sydney time on boarding, with dinner served shortly after departure despite taking off on Friday morning,” Rosser reported on the subject of Chelsea’s “masterplan” to beat disrupted body clocks.

“The instructions were to get to sleep as quickly as possible on the first leg of the flight, before players were allowed to disembark their flight at Sri Lanka for a stretching session, though only as far as across the jet bridge and into the gate.”

He somehow even has sources telling him the players got on – some of them “reporting sleeping 10 hours on their first night” after landing.

Let’s hope it works the other way too.
