Gvardiol: Fans at the Etihad Stadium are our 12th man

Josko Gvardiol has made it clear how important City’s fans at the Etihad Stadium can be to the team.

The Croatian defender has agreed a new contract with the Club, extending his stay until 2031.

Three years on from joining City, he’s already represented us 122 times and won six major honours while developing into one of the world’s best defenders.

In that time he’s developed a strong connection with fans in the stadium and Gvardiol says everyone in the squad is grateful for the backing.

“It’s nice. It’s not just me, I think it’s everyone,” he said in a City Studios interview after signing his contract.

“They’ve been amazing for years.

“We like it, especially when we play crucial games at the Etihad. I like to say they are like our 12th man.”
