Chelsea and Napoli have reached “total agreement” that would see Benoit Badiashile make the switch to the Serie A club, according to journalist Luca Cerchione.
Writing on his X account, Cerchione confirmed that the Frenchman could make the move on a season-long loan with an option to buy, although Napoli have not rubberstamped the deal yet:
“Total agreement between Napoli and Chelsea for Benoit Badiashile: loan with a fee of 3 million euros with option to buy.”
“[Sporting] Director [Giovanni] Manna has already worked out the financial details with the defender in case of redemption: five-year contract at 2.5 million euros net plus bonuses. The ball is now in the court of the Partenopean club, which must decide whether to close the deal or not.”
How much could Chelsea sell the defender for?
Cerchione doesn’t mention the purchase clause figure, but recent reports have suggested that the Blues were holding out for around £30m to sell Badiashile.
Taking into account the €3m (£2.6m) loan fee, it’s likely that the purchase price would be in the €30m range, but we shall have to wait and see if that price is accurate.
Badiashile is part of a massive squad exodus
The 25-year-old is actually just one of three centre-backs who are likely to be offloaded this summer. Trevoh Chalobah is on the market, with Como still hoping to secure his signature.
Axel Disasi is available too, but the Blues are still holding out for £25m, which is an asking price that has likely put off potential suitors, despite impressing during a six-month loan spell at West Ham last season.
In terms of other positions, four strikers are available for transfer. Nicolas Jackson is valued at £65m and is attracting interest from Aston Villa. Xabi Alonso’s side will also listen to offers for Marc Guiu, Liam Delap and Emmanuel Emegha.
Filip Jorgensen and David Datro Fofana have been effectively transfer-listed as well, while several others are set to be loaned out before the transfer window closes.
