Chelsea have confirmed a Hannah Hampton contract extension after the England goalkeeper signed a new two-year deal until summer 2028. The 25-year-old had become a free agent when her previous agreement expired at the end of June.
Hampton has chosen to continue her three-year stay in west London despite becoming available without a transfer fee.
The goalkeeper joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in July 2023 and has since won five major trophies. She also established herself as England’s first choice and played a decisive role during the Lionesses’ successful Euro 2025 campaign.
Hampton later received the inaugural women’s Yashin Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony. She was recognised as the world’s leading goalkeeper after winning a domestic treble with Chelsea and starring for England.

Hannah Hampton contract extension secures Chelsea number one
Speaking after signing her contract, Hampton described Chelsea as her dream English club.
“Chelsea have always been my dream club to play for in England, so to be able to extend for another two years is a proud moment,” she said.
Hampton explained that the club helped London feel like home after she moved away from the Midlands. She now wants to continue developing while helping Chelsea return to their previous level of success.
The goalkeeper won the WSL Golden Glove for the second successive season in 2025/26. Her eight clean sheets also earned her a place in the league’s Team of the Season.
Chelsea have prioritised retaining important members of Sonia Bompastor’s squad this summer. The Blues have also secured Aggie Beever-Jones on a contract until 2030.
