Manchester City midfielder Rodri
Real Madrid have changed their stance on Manchester City‘s Rodri and will make an attempt to sign him.
The Spain international is in his final year of contract and Manchester City’s intention is to secure him to an extension.
However, the midfielder hasn’t accepted the renewal proposal and has refused to rule out a move this summer.
The 30-year-old starred at the World Cup and won the Golden Ball [Best Player of the tournament].
On July 21st, the Spanish media stated his performances at the World Cup showed he has put the serious injury behind him. This also helped him gain more support within the La Liga side for his arrival.
However, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez was against it because Enrique Riquelme endorsed Rodri’s signing during the election campaign.
Soften stance on Manchester City star

When Real Madrid plan to move
José Mourinho has requested a midfielder this summer. The focus is now on the World Cup winner, after missing out on other targets.
Marca claims the Real Madrid director has presented a report to Florentino Pérez on why they should sign Rodri. This convinced the president, who has given the green light.
The Spanish giants are currently working on signing RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. After completing this deal, they will quickly move on to Rodri and present a formal offer to Manchester City.
Manchester City willing to negotiate
Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain of the Etihad club warning that Rodri won’t leave cheaply even though his contract expires in 2027.
Manchester City would be willing to let the Spaniard leave if he wants a move. Sources close to the operation believe the Citizens would be open to negotiating with Real Madrid and a deal could be agreed for €50-60m.
The English club have now confirmed Rodri has undergone minor back surgery. He will start a short period of rehabilitation. This should not impact Real Madrid’s attempt to sign the player.
