Bradley Barcola has reportedly held talks with Andoni Iraola as Liverpool steps up its pursuit of the Paris Saint-Germain winger.

Liverpool has identified Barcola as its leading target to replace Mohamed Salah on the right wing after the Reds pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande collapsed. The France international is entering the final two years of his contract in Paris and has reportedly opted against signing a new deal, giving the Reds an opportunity to make their move.

A potential transfer is described as “complicated” and is expected to hinge on whether Liverpool and PSG can reach an agreement over the financial terms. Despite the challenges, the Reds are determined to pursue a deal as they look to add another attacking option to Iraola's side.

According to French outlet L'Equipe, Barcola has reportedly given his verbal agreement to join Liverpool, with the French winger now hoping the two clubs can reach a deal to complete his move to the Premier League. The PSG star has held talks in recent days with several Liverpool executives as well as with Iraola as the Reds step up their pursuit.

PSG is reportedly demanding around $187 million (£140 million) for Barcola, with some reports suggesting their valuation could reach as high as $193 million. A fee of that size would set a new Premier League transfer record, surpassing the mark Liverpool themselves broke twice last season with the arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

The French club’s valuation is understood to have been influenced by recent big-money deals, including Chelsea’s £117 million ($158 million) move for Morgan Rogers and Manchester City’s £116 million ($154 million) signing of Elliot Anderson. PSG has also factored in Barcola’s age, his key role in their two Champions League triumphs over the past two seasons, and his regular involvement with the France national team.

Timing has also been crucial in Liverpool’s pursuit, with Barcola’s extended World Cup campaign delaying any potential transfer discussions.

Liverpool and PSG are prepared to take a patient approach to negotiations over Barcola, suggesting the transfer saga could stretch on throughout the remainder of the summer window.

PSG head coach Luis Enrique is understood to want only “committed” players in his squad next season, with those unwilling to remain at the club potentially facing limited opportunities for game time.

That stance could pave the way for a situation similar to the one that unfolded before Isak completed his move to Liverpool last summer. Isak pushed to leave Newcastle United following the 2025/26 season after Liverpool made him their top striker target on the back of a career-best 23 Premier League goals.

The Sweden international later broke his silence with a bombshell Instagram statement, accusing the club of breaking promises and suggesting it was in the best interests of both parties to part ways after months of speculation. His move to Liverpool was eventually approved on deadline day.
