The agent of talented player reveals Chelsea currently have the edge over Arsenal as both clubs battle it out for the same transfer target.
Young talents who break into senior football at a young age quickly attract attention from Premier League clubs. Agents carefully weigh the long-term development prospects before advising on any move. Contract length can form part of the discussion but is rarely the sole deciding factor.
Clubs that offer extended deals sometimes gain an advantage when competing for the same prospect. Playing time, coaching and a clear pathway usually rank higher in the decision-making process. Early transfers of this magnitude carry both opportunity and pressure.

The agent of Hajduk Split teenager Adam Guram has hinted that Chelsea may hold a slight advantage over Arsenal in the race for the 17-year-old. Vadim Shablii discussed the interest from both clubs in an interview and addressed the Blues’ policy of offering long contracts.
Guram, a product of Shakhtar Donetsk’s academy, joined Hajduk on a free transfer and has already made 10 first-team appearances. His performances have put him on the radar of Arsenal and Chelsea. Shablii believes the youngster possesses exceptional understanding of the game, outstanding technique and the right professional attitude.
“First and foremost, these clubs recognise his enormous potential,” the agent said. “Although Adam is still very young, he already possesses an exceptional understanding of the game, outstanding technique, and – above all – the right professional attitude. He has an unwavering drive to learn and develop further every single day.

“An early transfer of this magnitude is a huge step. It opens doors, but it inevitably brings pressure with it. For us, therefore, it is by no means just about choosing the most famous club. We have to analyse precisely whether such a move is the right step for Adam at this particular time.”
The tendency of Chelsea to hand out lengthy contracts, Shablii added: “A long-term contract with a top club undoubtedly holds appeal. It signals a high level of appreciation to the player. And it demonstrates the club’s willingness to invest in their long-term development.
“However, the length of the contract should never be the primary deciding factor. Far more important are the sporting role the club envisions for the player, the development plan, and the realistic prospect of playing time.”
Arsenal remain in the picture as they continue to recruit promising young players for the academy and beyond. The final decision will rest on which club offers the most suitable environment for Guram’s continued growth. Further developments are expected as both sides assess their interest in the Croatian-based prospect.
