Liverpool defender Milos Kerkez has revealed that he was driving a truck at the age of 10, describing his unconventional upbringing in Serbia as a key reason why he feels unfazed by the pressure of playing for one of the world’s biggest clubs.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old said the experience reflected a childhood that helped shape his mentality long before he reached the Premier League.

Kerkez explained that he learned to steer a truck while sitting on his father’s lap in his hometown of Vrbas, with his father controlling the pedals because he was too small to reach them.
The Hungary international said it was one of many unusual experiences from his childhood and insisted he has never been intimidated by the expectations that come with professional football.
“I don’t like the word ‘pressure’,” Kerkez told the Daily Mail. “I grew up a bit different in Serbia. For example, I started to drive a truck when I was ten years old. I was with my dad. I would climb on his knee and then I took the wheel.
“He was doing the pedals because I was only quite small so couldn’t reach them.” He added that football is simply his job and that players must move on quickly, whether they perform well or badly.
The left-back also spoke about the importance of his family, revealing that his parents live with him in England and continue to play a major role in keeping him grounded. Milos Kerkez joked that his father is always ready to remind him to stay humble if he becomes carried away after a run of good performances.
The interview comes as Kerkez prepares for his second season at Liverpool after joining the club from Bournemouth in 2025. He admitted his debut campaign was challenging but believes the experience has made him a better player ahead of the new season.
