Over the last few days, it’s felt like every new on the Bradley Barcola update has nudged the story along without quite getting it over the line.

Liverpool have been described as “pushing hardest” for Barcola, holding preliminary and now scheduled talks with PSG as they search for a marquee successor to Mohamed Salah.

At the same time, PSG have made it clear that they will not let the 23‑year‑old leave cheaply after his starring role in back‑to‑back Champions League triumphs.

L’Equipe and The Athletic both report a jaw‑dropping valuation north of €150m, with the latest figure sitting around €170m as a starting point for negotiations.

L’Équipe journalist Loïc Tanzi has upped the stakes, revealing that Barcola has “agreed in principle” to join Liverpool after speaking directly with new head coach Andoni Iraola and club officials. Tanzi reports that those talks were convincing enough for the forward to assure the Reds he wants the move this summer, and that Liverpool have opened formal negotiations with PSG over a transfer.

However, Tanzi is equally clear that this remains an agreement in principle only; Liverpool and PSG are still “far from a contractual agreement,” and even Barcola’s own personal terms have not been fully ironed out yet.

But while the story continues to be progress, Barcola himself raised eyebrows when it emerged that he liked Dominik Szoboszlai’s post on his new contract renewal announced earlier this month.

It’s interesting still that the former OL winger does not follow Szoboszlai on Instagram.

One of the main hurdles continues to be PSG’s asking price, which various reports place between £140m and £170m. Given the scale of that fee, it’s no surprise negotiations are progressing cautiously.

Meanwhile, another player linked to Anfield in Nico Schlotterbeck likewise left a comment under Szoboszlai’s contract announcement this month.
