La Liga champions Barcelona have decided against pursuing a move for a Premier League forward linked with Liverpool
Liverpool remain active in the summer transfer window as preparations for the 2026-27 season continue under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
While the Reds are currently on their pre-season tour in the United States, work is continuing behind the scenes to strengthen the squad before the new campaign begins.

Liverpool have already completed several signings this summer, bringing in defender Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais for £60 million, World Cup winner Victor Munoz from CA Osasuna for £35 million after triggering his release clause, Austria Wien youngster Ifeanyi Ndukwe for £2.6 million and attacking midfielder Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional for £750,000.
Replacing the influence of Mohamed Salah remains one of Liverpool’s biggest priorities following the Egyptian’s departure. Rather than relying on one marquee signing, the club are understood to be exploring multiple attacking options as they look to reshape their forward line.
Among the names linked with a move to Anfield is Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi. The 20-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest young forwards after an impressive breakthrough season, attracting interest from several top clubs.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona have decided against pursuing Kroupi for the time being.
The Spanish champions had identified the France youth international as a possible alternative to Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and made initial enquiries over a potential deal. They have now opted not to continue their interest.
Barcelona’s withdrawal is unlikely to change Bournemouth’s position. According to Romano, the Premier League club have made it clear they have no intention of selling Kroupi this summer and view him as a key part of their long-term plans under Iraola’s former club.
Liverpool continue to be credited with an interest in the young forward, while Manchester City have also reportedly made enquiries during the current transfer window. Despite growing attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, Bournemouth remain firm in their stance that Kroupi is not available for transfer.
Kroupi joined Bournemouth from Lorient and quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young attackers. Bournemouth are determined to keep hold of the striker as they prepare for the 2026-27 season.
