Liverpool have received a huge boost in their bid to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season after a major star agreed to join the club following positive talks with Andoni Iraola.
Liverpool knew that a squad refresh was needed after a disappointing 2025-26 campaign in which they finished 25 points behind the champions Arsenal, as they looked to retain their Premier League title.
With key senior players like Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate departing, it is a chance for the Merseyside outfit to add fresh new blood to their playing ranks, under a new manager in Iraola.
Winger Victor Munoz is the only senior arrival so far, after the Reds hijacked Newcastle United's move for the Spain international winger.
Liverpool had been hoping to land RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as their number one replacement for the outgoing Salah, but the Ivory Coast international made it clear he preferred to join Paris Saint-Germain, with Real Madrid now swooping in to sign the 19-year-old.
The Reds are long-term admirers of PSG attacker Bradley Barcola, having tried to bring him to Anfield last summer, and he has emerged as their top target to succeed Salah.
And they have received a big boost in their bid to prise the France international away from the Parc des Princes.

According to reliable French outlet L'Equipe on Tuesday afternoon, there has been a breakthrough after Bradley Barcola gave his verbal agreement to joining Liverpool, having been in contact with Iraola over a transfer.
With it being a verbal agreement, the 'world-class' 23-year-old hasn't signed a contract to make the move to Anfield, with the two clubs still far from reaching an agreement on a fee for the Frenchman, with the gap in valuations described as 'significant'.
Nevertheless, the report says this could be a 'decisive step' to a deal eventually going through, with the player hoping that an agreement is reached between the two clubs to allow him to take his next step in the Premier League.
As well as Iraola, Barcola has also held talks with many Liverpool executives as a potential switch ramps up.

With Paris Saint-Germain's current demands to sell Barcola said to be at £145m, Liverpool have decided they need to sell one player to fund a deal for the Frenchman.
That individual is Cody Gakpo, according to one journalist, who is attracting interest from a number of clubs across Europe, including Tottenham Hotspur.
The Dutchman was linked with an exit from Anfield when Arne Slot lost his job earlier in the summer, with the pair big supporters of each other.
Gakpo is said to be earning £250,000-a-week on Merseyside so, as well as the potential to attract a big transfer fee for the 27-year-old, they would also be clearing a big salary ahead of the arrival of someone like Barcola.
