The report states that the offer remains below Newcastle United’s valuation of the Brazilian international. However, sources involved in the negotiations are said to believe there is a strong chance of the two clubs reaching a full agreement before the transfer window closes.
Further optimism has also emerged from ESPN, which reports that both Arsenal and Newcastle are becoming increasingly confident that a deal can eventually be completed.

The report adds that Arsenal have made signing Guimarães a “matter of honour” as they look to make one of the biggest statements of the summer transfer window.
Andrea Berta has been working to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s midfield despite Arsenal already possessing one of the Premier League’s strongest squads. Guimarães has long been admired by the club thanks to his ability to dictate play, win possession and drive his side forward with progressive passing.
Since joining Newcastle from Lyon, the Brazilian has established himself as one of the division’s standout midfielders, becoming a key figure at St James’ Park and earning a reputation as one of Europe’s most complete central midfielders.
Newcastle, understandably, remain reluctant to lose one of their most influential players and continue to value him higher than Arsenal’s current proposal.
Nevertheless, the latest reports suggest there is a growing belief on both sides that a compromise can be reached.

For Arsenal, securing Guimarães would represent another major statement of intent following an already ambitious summer window, adding further quality, experience and leadership to a squad aiming to defend the Premier League title and compete for the UEFA Champions League.
No agreement has yet been finalised, and negotiations remain ongoing. However, with Arsenal increasing their offer and confidence reportedly growing among those involved in discussions, the transfer now appears closer than at any previous stage this summer.
Attention will now turn to whether Arsenal are prepared to meet Newcastle’s valuation or whether the Magpies are willing to lower their demands to complete one of the window’s biggest Premier League transfers.
