Liverpool are all set for a major clash with Paris Saint-Germain, but for a different reason. The Reds will compete with the French club to secure the transfer of French winger Maghnes Akliouche.

Liverpool aim to bring Akliouche to Anfield

The Reds will be clashing with PSG for the French winger Akliouche. They aim to secure the 24-year-old right winger’s transfer for the 2026-27 season, as reported by Sky Sports. Even Arsenal have shown their interest in the Frenchman.

Akliouche currently plays for Monaco. He joined the club in 2021. Before that, he was part of the club’s youth academy between 2017 and 2021. He was first included in Monaco’s reserve team in 2020. Subsequently, he was promoted to the senior team next year. Additionally, he was part of the French U23 team that won the silver medal in men’s football at 2024 Paris Olympics.

Akliouche’s stats for the 2025-26 season, as per FOTMOB:

Competitions Matches Goals Assists

Ligue 1 31 6 6

Coupe de France 2 0 1

UEFA Champions League 10 1 3

Will Akliouche be a good fit at Liverpool?

Akliouche is not only a good right-winger, but also capable of playing in the midfield. His versatility makes him a good fit for Liverpool ahead of the next football season. The Reds need strong, reliable players, who are capable of playing in any position. They don’t want to repeat the mistakes of the previous few seasons.

The Reds finished fifth in the 2025-26 Premier League. Arne Slot was sacked as the team manager despite having led the Reds to the League title in the 2024-25 season. However, new manager Andoni Iraola is hopeful of a better future. The management is already working on finding suitable replacements. Apart from Akliouche, the Reds are also pursuing French forward Bradley Barcola for the next season.

Future gameplan for Maghnes Akliouche

Akliouche will be resting for a while before preparing for the next **football**season. He was part of the French squad which made it to the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup. This was the third time since the 2018 edition that France made it to the semifinals. However, they lost to Spain 2-0. Spain went on to win their first World Cup title after 16 years. They had last won the World Cup in the 2010 edition.

Akliouche is relatively clean in terms of disciplinary issues. However, he does need to work on his fitness concerns. He sustained a hip injury in February 2026. This kept him out of action for a few days. However, he recovered in time for the FIFA World Cup. Akliouche needs to be in top form he wants to make a big name in European football next year.

Meanwhile the Reds have a lot to achieve before the upcoming season. They’ve begun on a good note by bringing Andoni Iraola to the team. However, they also need to keep the team together. Probably that is why Iraola has decided to retain players like Alexis Mac Allister for the next season. He doesn’t want good players like him to leave Anfield this year.

The elite European clubs are seeking out Akliouche over the past year. It won’t be a cakewalk for anyone in terms of securing the Frenchman. However, if Liverpool somehow convince the French winger to join Anfield next year, they can restore their lost pride. It will be interesting to see if Akliouche is equally interested in joining Liverpool by the upcoming season.
