Liverpool fell behind early in the second half after 19-year-old Kieran Morrison had opened the scoring, but Dominik Szoboszlai inspired the comeback with a stunning half-volley before Federico Chiesa and Lewis Koumas sealed the win.
Iraola will have several senior players available for the clash, although Wrexham arrive in good form after remaining unbeaten during pre-season.
Ahead of the match, Wrexham AFC and Macron have officially unveiled the club’s new 2026/27 home kit, which pays tribute to the original Kop Stand at the Racecourse Ground.
The launch took place in New York City, where representatives of the club, Macron and their partners rang the Nasdaq opening bell in Times Square.
The red shirt features an embossed pattern inspired by the barriers of the original Kop terrace, while a “Racecourse Ground LL11 Wrexham” street sign is incorporated into the front of the design.
Six flagpoles on the back of the neck spell out “CAE RAS” alongside the club’s foundation year, 1864. The kit also honours the 266 victims of the 1934 Gresford Colliery disaster with a tonal print of the colliery wheel and the number 266 inside the lower hem.
The shirt is completed with a white V-neck collar, darker red sleeves, embroidered club crest and Macron logo, as well as new sponsors Firefox and Nex.
It is manufactured using Macron’s Eco Fabric and features the message “Ein Tir, Ein Hysbryd – Our Ground, Our Spirit” on an internal silicone tape along the rear hem. Wrexham are set to debut their new home kit in the match against Liverpool.
Wrexham AFC CEO Michael Williamson said of the new kit: “We are very proud to launch our new home kit for the 2026/27 season together with our technical partner Macron.
“It showcases strong design elements and individual features that reference the Racecourse Ground and the old Kop stand where generations of Wrexham home fans supported the team.
“The home kit is a celebration of the old Kop and its place in our Club history. As the new Kop takes shape rising up in its place, the home kit is a tribute to the fans that stood there in years gone by, supporting the Club through thick and thin to create history together.”
Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron, added: “Wrexham AFC and Macron share a powerful belief: identity matters. Every Club has a story, a community and a set of values that make it unique.
“Our role is to translate those elements into design, creating products that capture the spirit of the people who wear them.
“With our Italian style at the heart of our creativity, Macron combines craftsmanship, innovation and contemporary style to redefine the relationship between sport and fashion.
“The journey with Wrexham is a perfect expression of this vision: a partnership between two brands driven by authenticity, ambition and the desire to create something truly distinctive.
“This is Fashion in Sport – where a jersey becomes more than a garment; it becomes a symbol of identity, culture and belonging.”
Our Ground. Our Spirit.
