Home›News›Arsenal move for Chelsea target after William Sali…
Arsenal interest in Jacobo Ramon has developed as Mikel Arteta considers signing another centre-back following William Saliba’s back injury. The 21-year-old Como defender is also admired by Chelsea.
The Athletic reports that Ramon has been added to Arsenal’s defensive shortlist. However, there is no indication that the Gunners have approached Como or opened negotiations over a transfer.
Arsenal continue to search for a new defender, with Ezri Konsa and Jacobo Ramon on the club's shortlist.
A deal for Ramon is COMPLICATED, with Real Madrid retaining 50% of his economic rights and buy-back clauses, while Chelsea are also interested. (@gunnerblog) pic.twitter.com/GmEx20x1U8

Arsenal interest in Jacobo Ramon grows after Saliba injury
Saliba will miss an extended period after aggravating a back problem during France’s World Cup campaign. Arsenal have confirmed that the defender does not require surgery and will instead begin a managed rehabilitation programme.
The injury has increased the need for reliable cover alongside Gabriel. Arsenal had explored a move for John Stones, but ReadArsenal reported on Tuesday that the former Manchester City defender has agreed to join Inter Milan.
Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa has also been discussed. However, the clubs reportedly remain some distance apart over the England international’s valuation.
Ramon joined Como from Real Madrid last summer after progressing through the Spanish club’s academy. Como described him as a technically accomplished centre-back with strong aerial ability when confirming his arrival.
The Spaniard established himself under Cesc Fabregas during his first season in Serie A. His comfort in possession and ability to defend higher up the pitch would suit Arteta’s approach.
Any agreement may be complicated by the terms of Ramon’s departure from Madrid. The Spanish club retain 50% of his economic rights and hold buy-back options, according to reports.
Chelsea have also monitored Ramon but are closing in on Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix. Arsenal are assessing several candidates and have not yet made an offer for the Como player.
