Even though Sky Sports reported that Vinicius Junior will be staying at Real Madrid for the upcoming season, there is still a small chance a deal could happen.
Not to question the validity of Sky Sports' sources at all, but there have not been that many rumors coming from Madrid about the same, and journalists like David Ornstein - who was the first person to break the news about Vinicius Junior and Arsenal - have yet to confirm those things.
Yes, the chances of it happening were already low, and are probably even lower now after this report, but hey, there is nothing wrong if any Arsenal fans you know are still hoping for the same.
The contract situation aside, Real Madrid have just splurged on a 19-year-old winger in Yan Diomande from Leipzig. Obviously, Diomande plays on the right wing, so it is well worth noting that he can perfectly co-exist alongside Vincicius Junior.
Arsenal fans can't ignore the signs building around Vinicius Junior
However, Real Madrid spending as much money as they probably are on Diomande, around the time the whole Vinicius Junior saga started, makes you wonder if this saga is really over already.
It could still be over, but these things in football don't normally happen through sheer coincidence. It could be that Real Madrid are leaning a different way with this new signing of Diomande.
Rather than going for a like-for-like replacement for Vinicius Jr, it could also be that to prepare for this potential contingency, Real Madrid shift Mbappe to the left, put Diomande to the right, and Endrick can go up top instead.
It would definitely be an option if it gets to that position, but obviously, all Arsenal fans can do is hope that I am right with this prediction.
There was also a recent report from ESPN, soon after the Vinicius Junior rumors came about, that this signing of Diomande is aimed directly at Vinicius Junior.
Another thing that fans should be thinking about with Vinicius Junior is that the confidence of the deal being done has been there for a very long time. If people have enough time to scour through old reports of Vinicius Junior's contract situation at the club, they would find that the confidence has been there for a year.
However, nothing has happened since, which is why these rumors, a year before the Brazilian's current contract expires, have more value in them than what is being laid out as of late.
Vinicius Junior might not end up leaving Real Madrid for Arsenal this season, but the signs are still very much there, and they will continue until the official announcement is made.
