Arsenal transfer news## Arsenal will pursue a number of transfer targets before the Premier League season kicks off
05:00, 29 Jul 2026
Arsenal have received a major update in their pursuit of Vinicius Jr with his absence confirmed at Real Madrid.
Mikel Arteta has reportedly made the winger his personal key target this summer after becoming "smitten" with the transfer possibility. However, there are talks about contract extensions as the 26-year-old has just a year left on his deal.
The Gunners have already secured Piero Hincapie, Christos Tzolis and Illan Meslier so far with Bruno Guimaraes, Julian Alvarez and Vini all still on the radar. Arteta will look to offload some outcasts too with Arsenal naming their price for Fabio Vieira, much to Hamburg's shock.

Vini reaches impasse with Real
Vini Jr and Real find themselves deadlocked alongside the already stalled contract discussions. The Daily Mail reports that the winger will not return to club training this week as his future in Spain hangs in the balance.
Vini's camp are understood to be attempting to revive contract extension negotiations with the La Liga giants. The 26-year-old is eager to command the same £25million-a-year salary as Kylian Mbappe.
The winger is understood to be earning somewhere between £12m and £15m at Real at present. In order for Arsenal to land his signature, they would almost certainly need to shatter their club transfer record while simultaneously making him the highest-paid player in north London.
Arsenal transfer demand issue
Arsenal are holding out for a minimum of £15m for Fabio Vieira's signature. This places the Gunners' valuation considerably above Hamburg's expectations, with the Bundesliga side willing to pay only around £8.5m for the Portuguese midfielder.
Sky Sports reports that while Arsenal are standing firm for now, Vieira is entering the final year of his contract - a factor that could ultimately swing negotiations in Hamburg's favour. The 26-year-old is also eager to return to the club where he spent last season on loan.
Club chief Eric Huwer claims they have no intention of allowing the transfer saga to rumble on and will pursue alternative targets if necessary. He said: "We fell in love with Fabio a little bit last year.

"But we are not going to be unreasonable. If Arsenal say yes, we look forward to him. If they say no, we look forward to someone else."
