Chelsea and Aston Villa have already held discussions over a potential deal for Nicolas Jackson - but Premier League rules will prohibit the two clubs from agreeing another loan.
That's because Chelsea and Villa recently struck an initial loan for Alejandro Garnacho, though the move will become permanent if appearance-related criteria is met.
Under Premier League regulations, clubs are only permitted to loan one player to a certain club during a season and in this case, Villa's loan quota with the Blues is full.
So while the two teams may continue discussions over a deal for Jackson, any transfer would have to be permanent.
Jackson is back at Chelsea following a season-long loan at Bayern Munich where he scored 11 goals and registered four assists in 34 appearances under Vincent Kompany.

The transfer initially looked set to be called off last August following Liam Delap's hamstring injury against Fulham, but it was later revived by his agents after Marc Guiu was recalled from his loan with Sunderland.
The Senegal international was largely second in command to record-breaking frontman Harry Kane in Germany, though he did help Bayern win the Bundesliga title and DFB Pokal.
Now he's looking for a permanent home, although there is still a chance he could remain at Stamford Bridge under Xabi Alonso.
Villa looked into a deal last summer as Unai Emery previously worked with the forward, who can also play on the wing, at Villarreal.
Chelsea have a number of strikers on their books at this moment and would therefore entertain bids for the 25-year-old.
Delap could also depart with Nottingham Forest among his list of admirers and Villa are looking to add extra firepower to their attack after selling Morgan Rogers to Chelsea in a £117million deal.
Relations between Chelsea and Villa are good, meaning a deal for Jackson could yet be reached if the Europa League winners wish to pursue his signature.
Villa negotiated two other deals with Chelsea in 2024, buying Ian Maatsen while also offloading young prospect Omari Kellyman before the PSR deadline.

Tammy Abraham, a January arrival from Besiktas, is free to depart while Ollie Watkins has also attracted interest from Fenerbahce.
