Xabi Alonso responds when asked whether Dastan Satpayev will stay at Chelsea

Many Chelsea fans are wondering what the future holds for Dastan Satpayev after his performance against Western Sydney Wanderers.

Dastan Satpayev is currently in a bit of transfer limbo with Chelsea. Although Kairat allowed him to link up with the squad early for pre-season, he isn’t officially a registered Chelsea player yet because he doesn’t turn 18 until August.

That hasn’t stopped the 17-year-old Kazakh prodigy from making an immediate impression, though. Starting in Chelsea’s 6-4 pre-season win against Western Sydney Wanderers, Satpayev took just six minutes to open the scoring, racing onto a through ball and finishing brilliantly.

However, the one downside for the youngster is the fact that he’s fighting Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Emmanuel Emegha, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu for a spot.

Xabi Alonso issues an update on Dastan Satpayev’s future

Here’s what Xabi Alonso had to say when asked where Dastan Stapayev would be play next season:

“Many decisions to be taken during this pre-season.

“I think it is good that we have the chance to see many players that were not here last year, that they have come, as well with some injuries, but with Geo Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha as well, that they played the first two friendly games that we have closed in Cobham.”

We’ve already seen plenty of opportunities given to youngsters already under Xabi Alonso, with the likes of Reggie Watson and Landon Emenalo getting key roles during pre-season.

The one thing that will benefit youth players under Alonso is the fact that he doesn’t care for your age, if you’re good enough to play then he’ll give you the opportunity.

And one thing that works in Satpayev’s favour is his versatility, as he can play off the wing, as well as in a more central role like Morgan Rogers or Cole Palmer.
