Liverpool would be happy to accommodate, but they would not be happy to pay £145m for the Frenchman's services. That's too much; Barcola should not eclipse the marker laid down when FSG authorised a £125m deal for Alexander Isak last year.
As journalist Bence Bocsak puts it: "Barcola is simply made for Andoni Iraola-ball." All of a Liverpool persuasion wants to see this one completed. He is direct and dynamic and fearless.
Barcola has been described by Anfield Index's Dave Hendrick as "the closest thing" to Salah on the market, and in that, it feels right that Liverpool should try and sign him. But we need to remember that Barcola is not a right winger, and that that is an area of the utmost importance ahead of the new season.

The Portugal international has been valued at €50m (£43m), so if he is being considered as an alternative to Barcola, he would certainly be far shrewder - and possibly a more fitting arrival following Salah's departure on the right.
Having settled in Italy with Juventus after cutting his teeth in his homeland with Porto, Conceicao is oh-so close to establishing himself as an elite talent. He is imperfect, and signing him would be a risk, but it would be a much cheaper gamble than might be taken on Barcola, with plenty of potential reward to consider.
Barcola is the bigger talent, it should go without saying, but Conceicao is developing into an exciting attacking prospect on the right, someone who has Salah's tactical flavour, if not his finishing. If he can fine-tune his shooting, Liverpool might just hit the jackpot.
After all, Luciano Spalletti has already remarked that the Iberian winger is "like Salah" when he strikes on goal, according to analyst Filipe Sousa, and given Iraola's track record in developing promising prospects, why shouldn't they take a punt?

Conceicao's technical ability and combativeness on the ball might even outweigh Barcola's own. Couple that with the fact he's a right-sider, and it does feel like signing him this summer could be the kind of astute FSG-led business that has created dynasties in the past.
Barcola is a first-class winger, but he's not unstoppable. He scored 13 goals across Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season, but he missed 25 big chances besides, speaking of a profligacy that certainly doesn't constitute a £145m price tag.

Who knows, maybe Barcola and Conceicao will be both ply their trade under Iraola's wing at Anfield next season. That would be the dream, cementing a new attacking structure at Liverpool. If a move for Barcola does fall through, though, he's the one to go for.
