At this point, Liverpool fans are probably tired of hearing Bradley Barcola’s name.

Various sources have confirmed that the French international is Andoni Iraola’s top target to reinforce his attack this summer.

Liverpool are in talks to sign Barcola from PSG, although the deal is expected to drag on for at least a few weeks due to the finances involved.

The initial signs are good, though, with the 24-year-old currently one of the most exciting attackers in world football.

And a tweet from Fabrizio Romano in 2023 has emerged, which proves the Reds could be about to get their man after three long years.

Bradley Barcola a long-standing Liverpool target

Before moving to PSG, Barcola made a name for himself at Lyon, where his devastating pace, dribbling ability and silky feet were on display week in and week out.

In the summer of 2023, the Parisian giants took a major punt on him as they agreed to pay a fee of €45m for a relatively inexperienced player.

And it’s safe to say their trust in Barcola has been vindicated as the French international has become a key player for club and country over the years, with his value skyrocketing to over €100m.

Liverpool tried to sign Barcola last summer, but PSG were unwilling to sell and the Reds decided to press ahead with deals for Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, among others.

However, it appears as if they have wanted the player for more than three years now, as confirmed by an old post from Romano.

As seen in the post above, the Reds wanted to make a move for Barcola when he was just a teenager at Lyon. The transfer never happened and he moved to PSG instead, but over the years, Liverpool have proved that they always keep one eye on their long-standing targets.

And they may finally be close to landing their man this summer. Fingers crossed.
