Danny Welbeck is reportedly moving to Chelsea, says sports Journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Earlier this week, sources claimed that Brighton forward Welbeck was 'keen to join' Chelsea, as transfer talk increased.
The 35-year-old was said to be an appealing option for new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso, who's eyeing experience for his squad.
On the afternoon of Monday, July 27th, football Journalist David Ornstein took to X to post about the transfer possibility.
Ornstein wrote: “Chelsea exploring move to sign Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion.
“Terms end 2027 and Brighton (are) aware of interest. Early stage but optimism on all sides (that a) deal can be done.
“Quality and leadership appeals to Xabi Alonso.”
However, this had not been confirmed by Brighton.
On the evening of Tuesday, Journalist Alex Crook provided further news.
His X post reads: "Danny Welbeck agrees terms with Chelsea, while talks between Chelsea and Brighton (are) ongoing.
"Brighton won't unduly stand in Welbeck's way. Chelsea now confident of agreeing a fee."
On the morning of Wednesday, July 29, Romano took to X.
The transfer expert wrote: "Danny Welbeck to Chelsea, here we go!
"Deal in place with Brighton for the English striker.
"Welbeck agreed terms with Chelsea until 2028, medical next; Brighton approved decision to let him go after formal request from Danny."
Last season, Danny made 37 league appearances for The Seagulls, scoring 13 goals.
Signing from Watford on a free in 2020, Welbeck’s leadership has been pivotal for Brighton.
His initial one-year contract was extended, and he became a household name at the Amex Stadium.
