Leeds United transfer target Michele Di Gregorio
Michele Di Gregorio
Arsenal‘s Kepa has been linked with a host of clubs and the idea of a swap deal has now emerged.
The Spaniard made 12 appearances in all competitions last season, acting as a reliable deputy for Mikel Arteta’s side. It was his first season at the London club and it came right after he became a regular at Bournemouth, showing that he can still cut it at a high level.
Sport Witness have covered how the keeper feels he deserves to play more. He was considering a departure but discussions with the Gunners were going to be a problem.
A possible swap deal would make things easier.
Agents trying to put things together
Today’s TuttoSport links Kepa’s situation to that of Juventus’ Michele Di Gregorio. The Italian is set to leave the Bianconeri and his agent Carlo Alberto Belloni recently made his annoyance with the Old Lady clear. Now, he is in England to find a suitor for the keeper.
The newspaper believe the right offer for Di Gregorio could come from the Premier League.
Amidst all this, another agent, Arturo Canales, has offered Juve the chance to sign Arsenal’s Kepa. The parties have also expressed a willingness to even execute a swap between the two clubs involving the keepers.
For now, Juve remain cold on the chance and have ideas of their own to replace Di Gregorio. That is their stance right now but depending on how the market moves, their view on a swap deal could change.
Our take: Swap could a good option
Di Gregorio’s stock dropped last season and there is a chance he agrees to become a back-up at Arsenal. This would give him the opportunity to make a mark in England before moving to another Premier League club.
Kepa would be Juve’s first-choice. Mattia Perin is likely to be a back-up in Turin and the Spaniard could end up being a cost-effective option for the Bianconeri.
